Accreditation Visit – WASC
Mr. Rod Passmore | Editor
One of the many challenges this year for us at Spring eld and there have been many including the pandemic was our recent accreditation visit by
WASC. We were scheduled to have an on-site visit in April of this year, but this had to be cancelled due to Covid-19. However, we were not deterred
and from the 2-8 Oct we participated in an online Self-Study visit. Spring eld was one of the rst schools to successfully organise and implement
an online visit with six highly experienced educators from around the world.
This virtual visit assessed our continuous improvement and progress over the last three years in relation to the high quality of teaching and
learning that is happening at Spring eld. Like our students who are using technology daily to complete their education we too had to resort to
Zoom and Google Meet to enable communication between parents, students and teachers along with the visiting committee members.
The report from the WASC visiting committee noted many schoolwide areas of strength at Spring eld.
Let me share some of the major areas of strength with you:
• A caring school based on strong core values and Christian faith.
• Caring and loving teachers and school leadership building relationships with students both personally and academically.
• A multi-campus commitment and focus on increasing student achievement.
• A variety of technology used by teachers within the curriculum.
• A well delivered and strong online program under challenging circumstances with Covid.
• Passion for improving learning and teaching during this Covid situation.
The chairman of the committee Dr Paul Morrow on behalf of the WASC visiting team said.
“Thanks for your hospitality, your love for teaching, your focus on
learning, your heart and for all you are doing to keep kids safe and
emotionally well during these unpredicted times.
God bless and keep moving forward.”
Well done to the Spring eld team on receiving such a positive WASC accreditation report. And thank you to the students, teachers and parents
who shared in the process.
