Message from the Director
Mdm. Feni | Director
Spring eld is still in lockdown like all other educational institutions. Online learning with students working from home has become the
new normal for us all. This new school year commenced with no physical face-to-face contact for our students, teachers or parents! A very
di erent teaching and learning environment that none of us have ever experienced in the past but Spring eld has continued to o er the
high standard of education that our families are familiar with.
Teachers have become creative and technology savvy. They have devised ways to make learning fun while at the same time meaningful
and full of new challenges for their students. Instead of decorating their physical classrooms teachers have created virtual classrooms!
Video conferencing using Google Meet and Zoom along with other applications such as SEQTA, Google Classroom and Seesaw have
allowed lesson delivery to take place in creative and educationally sound ways. Our students have been able to interact, communicate,
view and discuss presentations, and engage with learning resources while working in groups, all in an online setting. It has been exciting
to see our students adapting so well and participating in live classes to collaborate while still interacting as if they were in a physical
classroom setting.
Innovation has become the hallmark of online learning at Spring eld – for both our students and teachers. Virtual classrooms o er new
ways for teachers to deliver inspiring, engrossing and e ective learning content. In turn students interact with lessons in new ways
showing what works and what doesn’t in regard to our online teaching and learning. It has been challenging but we can say both students
and teachers have continued to learn and develop new skills in this time of remote teaching and learning.
As our virtual classroom techniques continue to improve and expand, we expect to see more innovation with emerging technologies. At
the forefront are Arti cial Intelligence and Virtual Reality. While these technologies are still nding their footing, they are on their way and
will nd countless applications across learning platforms in the years to come. Spring eld will be no exception here as we plan to be ready
and even now are experimenting with how these emerging technologies can be used in our existing school setting.
However, during all discussions as to how we need to respond to the e ects of this pandemic the ongoing health, safety and well-being
of our student and adult population has always been of the highest priority BUT Spring eld is ready! All legal and government speci c
requirements regarding use of buildings, signage, special hand washing station installation along with policy documentation has been set
in place and we are ready for students to come back. However, this will only happen when allowed to do so and our parent body is happy
for this to happen.
Special thanks to our families who have continued to sacri ce for their child’s education here at Spring eld. As you have read in the
editorial to this magazine Spring eld is a good school where good things are happening, and we have much to be thankful for. Let us
continue to support each other as we move forward in these uncertain times and pray for our country and the rest of the world as we deal
with this dreadful pandemic and its physical, emotional, social and economic e ects on us all.
