Healthy and Safe Workplace
during a Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic has become one of the biggest challenges for this
world and our own lives in this current situation. In the current context due
to the Covid-19 pandemic, millions of workers are a ected and forced to
work from home full-time to stop the spread of this disease and reduce the
risk of contracting the virus. More than 300 million students worldwide are
having their education disrupted by Coronavirus. Students are being forced
to study using online learning systems from their homes. The Covid-19
pandemic has a ected the routine of everyday lives globally and Indonesia
faces the same situation. The Covid-19 forced parts of Indonesia to
implement “large-scale social restrictions” to atten the case growth
numbers, which keeps students at home doing home-based learning. It also
causes school teachers and employees to work from home and only allows
leaders to come to school to ensure the quality of online learning for
students.
Since “large-scale social restrictions” regulations have shifted to a new normal
and then back to “large-scale social restrictions” (this article was written on
September 24, 2020) based on the increasing Covid-19 cases in Jakarta. It has
caused many schools like Spring eld to make some changes and adjustments to
gradually resume operation. Spring eld school created a Covid-19 taskforce,
which consists of leaders and sta members to create a safe workplace to
protect our students, teachers, sta and other employees during the pandemic.
Spring eld’s Covid-19 taskforce has had to make sure all the health protocols run
well in all school areas by enforcing Covid-19 protocols to be continually
followed during working hours at Spring eld. It is not just the employees’ right
and the employer’s responsibility to create a safe environment as school
reopens for sta , it takes cooperation from everyone to be disciplined in
following the health protocols. Protocols must be carried out seriously by
everyone, actively taking ownership of personal and collective Covid-19
practices as a community.
