         In educational and social theory over the last few years the concept of a “Growth Mindset” has been promoted. People with a growth mindset

         believe their talents and abilities can grow and develop over time, and that if they persevere through failures, they can learn a lot from them and
         come out the richer for the experience.


         Spring eld students and teachers have continued to develop and grow through the di cult times presented due to the pandemic and Covid-19.
         We  have  seen  many  successes  over  the  past  two  plus  years  of  online  teaching  and  learning  with  students  and  teachers  developing  a

         growth mindset as they learned, adapted and grew through the challenges presented to them as part of learning online.


         Some of the positive attitudes fostered here at Spring eld as part our teaching and learning with a focus on building a growth mindset include:

         •      Never saying never (never giving up)
         •      Being 100% accountable (we are responsible for our own learning)
         •      Learning from others (being open to others)
         •      Practicing gratitude (being grateful in all circumstances empowers us)
         •      Giving generously (because we can)

         •      Acting now (because time is a non-renewable commodity, and you don’t want to waste it)


         There is a lot of common sense in this, and parts of it resonate with Paul’s words in Phil 4:8 “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right,

         whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.” This conscious tilt
         towards the positive has much to commend it, and is a refreshing antidote to some of the negativity which we see in society at the moment.


         Are there limitations to the approach? Inevitably there are but let’s be encouraged with the ‘good work we see presented here in this edition
         of The Spring. Well done students and teachers in what has been a very trying time for all including parents.



         Let us dive into life with all that we have. Embracing a growth mindset – and doing it with humility and gratitude to the God who is the giver of all
         life.
