Shoebox Guitar Experiment
By Primary SFPB
How does the combination of science and art sound to you? Interesting! This year our P3 students at Spring eld PB1 campus completed
a project involving both Science and Art subjects. We made a guitar, a shoebox guitar!
In Science, we learned that sound is produced by vibrations and consequently we tested this by making our own musical instruments,
guitars! Our guitars were made out of used shoe boxes and newspaper. During art lesson, we stuck things together and painted the box.
It was full of challenges, yet we had fun!
Once the shoebox guitars were completed, we attached our rubber band strings and began testing what we learned in Science lesson.
“Wow! It works!” said Giselle from P3D. We successfully tried the high pitched and the low pitched notes on our shoebox guitar. Good
job, P3 students! We hope that you can showcase your creativity in other subjects too! See you in our next project!
