Equipping Springfield Students with
Financial Intelligence
Starting in the 2021/2022 academic year, Spring eld School collaborated with
Synergy Education to o er a nancial intelligence course called FINCH to the G9,
G10, G11 and G12 students. FINCH stands for Financial Intelligence Curriculum for
High School. FINCH is a two-year course that is developed by Synergy Education and
is delivered by a Spring eld teacher. The courses are taught in modules,
approximately 64 in all.
In the rst-year, students learn about (1) how money works, (2) saving instruments,
(3) investment instruments, and (4) stock trading simulation. In the second year,
students learn about (1) budgeting, (2) making nancial projection, (3) doing career
and income research, as well as (4) business research.
One hundred and seven students enrolled in this course in the rst year that it was
o ered. Only the rst-year modules were o ered in the 2021/2022 academic year. In
the 2022/2023 academic year, Spring eld will continue to o er rst-year modules to
the G9, G10, G11 and G12 students. Second-year modules will also be o ered to the
G10, G11 and G12 students who have taken the rst-year modules in the 2021/2022
academic year.
We hope that Spring eld students will take advantage of this course, becoming
more aware about nancial matters, and gaining nancial intelligence.
